make an impact on the next generation

Our team is looking for members of Southview Baptist Church who have a growing commitment to Christ and desire to care for students. We are not looking for people who view student ministry as an extension of their social life or as strictly good times. We are looking for people who will commit to being spiritual leaders and role models to junior high and high school students. The most effective way to reach students is to wholly love God and live transparently.
On what basis does the student ministry approve someone to work with students?
We invite into ministry only those applicants:
(a) who are church members of at least 6 months
(b) who are 20 years of age or older
(c) who have no previous conviction for sexual or physical abuse of children
(d) for whom we receive positive responses from their personal and professional references
(e) who meet the qualifications/personal temperament of the position for which they are applying
(f) who support the philosophy of student ministry as evidenced by their personal lifestyle
(g) who authentically demonstrate stability, self-awareness, a willingness to be lead, a deep sense of responsibility for how they lead
(h) who reflect Jesus with passion (Eph. 4:31-32, Titus 2)
(I) who posses both the physical and mental health necessary to lead
(j) have an understanding of a biblical and competing worldviews
(k) are willing to live the life of constant learning by participating in student ministry leader training/conferences
If background checks raise any questions, the individual will be asked to meet with the appropriate pastor to the questionable issues prior to being placed in a position relating to students.
Who will see the application?
The completed application and any subsequent information on you will be available only to the pastoral staff, the student ministry volunteer coordinator, and church administrative board. Once the approval process has been completed, your application and references will be maintained in a secure file.
Student ministry is a great way to invest your time and serve the Lord! I am looking forward to meeting with you and spending some time to talk about your hopes and dreams for ministry. If you have any need to reach me, please feel free to call or email.
Godspeed,
Ryan Colpitts
